THE PROCEDURE FOR THE TEST
All that you require in order to carry out the test is the accompanying CD, a suitable CD player and a timing device such as a wrist watch or stopwatch.
At the start of the CD, there are two accurately timed bleeps 60 seconds apart. The CD contains the first 15 seconds of stage 1, which should be carried out as part of a general warm-up procedure and as a means of familiarisation with the early part of the test. This should then be followed by some simple stretched of the abdominal and lower back regions.
The test can be conducted by a single person in their living room or alternatively as part of a group of people. Whatever the number of people doing the test, the procedure is the same.
The test commences on the first bleep after the countdown. The participants commence the test in the horizontal position and they should be advised top remain in this position for the first bleep, moving through to the vertical position for the second bleep. You must then perform abdominal curls continuously for as long as you possibly can. At the end of the first minute, or stage 1, the frequency of the bleep increases. As each stage passes then the speed of the bleeps will increase.
